Suicide Girls Column: Today I Die

So you say you’ve missed my games writing.  You miss the good old days when we just sat around, gabbing about what we were playing.  Well, I still do it, and we can still talk about it.  My second Suicide Girls column, “Hit Play,” ran today, and it’s about indie buzz magnet Today I Die.  I even scored an interview with creator Daniel Benmerguie, who gave me new insights on the game - for example, what it’s about:

Benmergui’s blog calls it a game “about the daily choice of waking up in the morning.” When I asked him to reconcile the gravity of drowning yourself with the hassle of crawling out of bed, Benmergui observes that: “We are conditioned to look at life as a series of milestones and achievements, so anything that is not one of those seems to be irrelevant. Like, what you do every day. The game is not about someone who suddenly changes her life in a single, spectacular moment like movies show people doing. It’s about a constant choice, an everyday choice.”

You can play the game for free here. And by the way, anyone catch the joke of reviewing this game for Suicide Girls? … Anyone?

Anyway, it’s supremely nails to have a weekly column. And it’s tough, too. I thought this one clicked better than last week’s, but now I already have to come up with the next one. Anything you’d like to see me write about for an audience that’s broad but savvy, geeky and kinda naked?

Well the more the better for you. Kind of envy the format you have right now of the ability to review games well as well as come up with interesting conversation topics. Then again it takes me weeks, or months to get a single review done.

Though I am curious to what your take is on Raze’s Hell simply because of the simple idea of fighting cute things.
